Epoxy is a very strong bonding agent created by modern scientific technology, and it is used in combination with natural stone to create the decorative concrete overlay system that is both durable and visually appealing. This type of surface resists most salt, oil, and gasoline contaminations. Most importantly, it is not affected by the icy snow and freeze thaw cycles.
Sierra Stone is very easy to maintain. Epoxy is affected by the ultra-violet rays from the sun and the life of the stone may be determined by the amount of traffic. However, the extra bond and shine to the stone can be quickly restored with a new roll coat of epoxy to protect the surface. Your decorative stone overlay will look like brand new again.
One of the advantages of Sierra Stone is the ability to quickly and easily repair the surface if required. When there is movement in substrate, any surface—even cement—may occasionally shift and crack, and it is only natural for the stone work or any other decorative overlay to crack as well. When this happens, the stone can be repaired by simply filling the crack with more of the original stone. The benefit of using the Sierra Stone product as an overlay is that the stone is very small and multicoloured, which makes it possible to virtually eliminate any sign of the original crack.
Sierra Stone is one of the most durable indoor flooring alternatives available today. It can be left as porous floor, in which water will disappear and will drain the way it did before the stone was applied, or it can be sealed, and the floor becomes waterproof and has a textured appearance. The floor can be easily maintained and cleaned as any other surface with warm water and damp mop.
Outdoor application is the most common use of the Sierra Stone product. It has been a widely accepted method of repairing concrete for many years. It is completely porous and as a result is paddle free right after the rain. This makes it an excellent alternative to tile and concrete which is often very slippery when wet. When applied around a pool or hot tub area, this type of surface is not only very safe, but also beautifies the surface and greatly enhances the décor.
Sierra Stone comes in a variety of attractive colours. You can also add dimension to your stone work with the use of design. By simply using combinations of stone, you can create logos, numbers, pictures, and other creative designs.
